Why BikeOtter costs anything

I build BikeOtter on my own. Most of it runs on your phone and costs nothing to keep running, so it is free: every route you send, every ride you pull off the unit, every alert on the screen.

Some of it doesn't. Weather forecasts and the rain radar, the maps, route planning and POI search all come from servers and services that cost money to run, however many people use them. Plus is what keeps those running.

Live tracking runs on a server too, and it stays free anyway. It is there so somebody knows where you are, and that is not a thing to charge for.

If you don't like subscriptions, buy Plus once. And because Plus puts ride weather, radar, route search and offline maps into one app, it replaces several separate apps and their subscriptions.

Questions

What happens if I cancel?

Plus stays on until the end of the period you paid for. After that, nothing you made is deleted: routes, rides and settings stay and keep working. Only the Plus tools lock again.

How do I cancel?

In the App Store or Google Play, under your subscriptions. BikeOtter never bills you directly, so there is nothing to cancel with us.

Is lifetime really lifetime?

One payment, no renewal, nothing to cancel: Plus for as long as BikeOtter and its Plus features run.

Does one purchase cover iPhone and Android?

Yes, if you sign in with the same BikeOtter account on both. Without an account, a purchase stays with the store you bought it from.

Can my family use it?

On iPhone, the lifetime purchase is shared with your Apple Family Sharing group. Google Play does not share in-app purchases across a family.

Why is live tracking free?

Because it is about safety. Somebody waiting for you should be able to see where you are, whether or not you pay.
